WSPA 15th Annual Print Excellence Awards Wall of Philanthropy

Lori Pasulka and ASU Print and Imaging Lab, who produced and installed the final product, won WSPA’s gold in their 15th Annual Print Excellence Awards. It was elevated to the Premier Print Awards competition in Pittsburgh where it won a 2018 Certificate of Merit. Special thanks to Print and Imaging Lab’s Senior Director, Cathy Skoglund, who submitted this entry for consideration. Truly a team effort!

Since ASU Enterprise Partners is a nonprofit and their purpose is fundraising and philanthropy, this community meeting space needed to reflect what they’re about in a modern and inviting way. The renovation made this space open and bright with lots of windows and views.

The art reflects this modern feel with two long collages. The background is a flowing “river of words” in the adjacent gray wall color (Dunn Edwards “Lunar Landing”). This colored word pattern helps tie the east end of the conference center, past the center elevator area which faces the main conference room all the way to the west end of this space.

The metal prints and words printed on the underside of 3/8″ acrylic in gold are situated at different levels using a custom standoff system with brushed metal hardware that matches the interior accents in the space.

Lori worked with ASU’s PrintLab, a student-run print shop with a large-format printer that was used to print the metal prints, the acrylic rectangles. They planned and ordered the complex, multi-level standoff system. PrintLab worked with a professional third-party installer, whose expertise is evident in the final results.

Because the Wall of Philanthropy won gold in this competition, it was elevated to the Premier Print Awards competition in Pittsburgh where it won a 2018 Certificate of Merit.

Together, Our Potential Is Limitless Fulton Center wall graphic

This wall features gray-on-gray 3D lettering with the campaign slogan “Together, Our Potential Is Limitless” for Campaign ASU 2020.  Lori worked with Airpark Signs in Scottsdale, who produced this featured proof of her design. The custom lettering was created, custom painted, and installed near the reception entrance of the 6th Floor conference center in the Fulton Center.

Athenian Oath Featured Image

The “Athenian Oath” was installed near the entrance wall to a smaller conference meeting area that can be split into two meeting rooms. Lori worked with Airpark Signs in Scottsdale, who produced this wall decal. It is located near a smaller meeting area on the west end of the 6th Floor conference center in the Fulton Center, near the kitchen and unique book wall.

From The Oath of the Athenian City-State
We will ever strive for the ideals and sacred things of the city, both alone and with many;
We will unceasingly seek to quicken the sense of public duty;
We will revere and obey the city’s laws;
We will transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.
